"You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor?" Matthew 5:13

You and I, as born again Christians, are called the salt of the earth because our lives enhance and give meaning to this existence we call life. Before salvation, we were like grains of sand, too numerous to count. But after receiving Jesus as our personal Savior we were transformed.

The question He asked however is, "What good is salt if it has lost its flavor?" In other words, if a Christian has lost his or her gusto and fervor, then what's the difference between the old grain of sand they once were and the so-called salt they are now? The answer is: very little.

Jesus said, "Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another." Mark 9:50

What I've learned is that God is not the destroyer in this life. He said the thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. John 10:10 God is not the thief. God is the "Restorer" of broken lives and broken hearts.

"So dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad, for these trials make you partners with Christ and what He went through, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing His glory when it is revealed to all the world." 1 Peter 4:12-13

Proverbs 15 : 1
Solomon in all his wisdom must have known about the old saying, “it takes two to argue.” He said a soft answer would turn away someone's anger, but harsh words would just stir it up. ...

When we speak out of anger, it feels like sandpaper to others. Nobody wants to be treated that way!

Venting is the world’s foolish way, intensifying conflict. Restraint is the Lord’s wise way, spreading shalom. And the Lord’s way succeeds. It might satisfy our aggressor, and it will surely safeguard us.

Wisdom is simple. If someone is angry, use gentle speech to calm them. Do not use defensive or harsh words, for that will increase anger. You can end conflict and fighting with calming words.

Reject the foolish and wicked response of fighting fire with fire

Imitating God

Worship God alone
The heart loves what it treasures; affections will naturally follow what is held as valuable. Jesus warns, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” (Matthew 4:10).

Make disciples
Besides the evangelistic aspect of discipleship, there is the ongoing effort to teach and encourage. The bible simply defines discipleship as “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you”. (Matthew 28:20). It is important to expose people to a level of biblical teaching that truly promotes a lifetime of sanctification and spiritual growth.

Help the poor
It’s really quite simple, when you love and serve the poor, you love and serve Christ (Matthew 25:35). Jesus taught us that we should give from the bounty of our blessing: “…He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.” (Luke 3:11).

Love your enemies
Jesus says to do good to those who hate you (Luke 6:27); pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44); and bless those who curse you (Luke 6:27-36). “For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?” (Matthew 5:46).

Honor your Father and Mother
No matter what is deserved, Jesus teaches that we are to honor and respect our moms and dads. It is the first commandment that holds with it a promise “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6:3).

"Let us run with endurance, the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" Hebrews 12 : 2

If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you don't have to look far. The Word of God says that He is in you. It means that wherever you are, He is there right now there in you.
